LTC Allen West to speak at HCGOP Fundraiser Monday night

(CHATTANOOGA, TENN.) Oct. 12, 2017 – The Hamilton County Republican Party is proud to announce former congressman and retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. Allen West will be the guest speaker for its annual Hamilton County GOP Majority Keepers fundraiser. Born and raised in Atlanta, West entered the U.S. Army in 1983 after graduating from the University of Tennessee. Being the third of four consecutive generations in his family to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces, West served our country honorably for 22 years before retiring as a Lt. Colonel. During this time, West saw action in several combat zones and received many military honors, including a Bronze Star, three Meritorious Service Medals, three Army Commendation Medals, one with Valor device and a Valorous Unit Award. In 1993, West was named the U.S. Army ROTC Instructor of the Year.

In November 2010, Allen was elected to the United States Congress, representing Florida’s 22nd District. As a member of the 112th Congress, West served on the Small Business and Armed Services Committees and was instrumental in passing the 2011 and 2012 National Defense Authorization Acts.

Today, West is a frequent guest commentator on Fox News a contributing columnist for and author of the bestseller, Guardian of the Republic: An American Ronin’s Journey to Family, Faith and Freedom. He is the former Executive Director of the National Center for Policy Analysis in Dallas.

Lt. Col. West is a legacy life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, life member of the Association of the United States Army and the Society of the First Infantry Division, life member and is a Board of Directors member of the National Rifle Association. He is also an inductee in the University of Tennessee Army ROTC Hall of Fame. He continues to serve on the Board of Advisors for Amegy Bank, Dallas Region. West was appointed by Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick to the Texas Sunset Advisory Commission.
